Miss Meagan's Tale:

portrait of Miss Meagan

Born Apr.23, 2004, I was just past my first birthday when I came to the Rescue House.  It is a miracle that I survived my first year, since my hunter-owner didn't think I'd make a very good hunt dog and just quit feeding me.  I was so skinny when animal control stepped in to save me that no one really thought I would live.  I lived in a shelter for 5 months... a pathetic little bag of bones that no one was interested in adopting because I looked so  very sick.  I was so depressed.
Life had no meaning, no love, no interest.  No special person there to protect me and love me.
I just gave up.  It wasn't difficult to ignore the food...I was used to starvation.
I got weaker and the shelter workers decided the most humane thing to do would be to put me to sleep.
But God wasn't finished with me yet... and Kids With Paws Rescue was contacted to see if they could assist.
Their director, Josette took one look in my sad, brown eyes and vowed that she would give me
at least one good chance at life even if it took years for her to find me that special place.
She took me home & fostered me to start preparing me for my forever place.
I got listed on the web thru Petfinder... ME... on the internet!
Meagan in Chicago with Josette
That's where Lynda saw me.  She was grieving over the loss of Boo, her first Walker hound
(thank you Boo,  for preparing the way for me!)
She tells me all the time that I'm beautiful and so much like him (I know that's a good thing)
She says she always thought of hounds as a man's dog for hunting and never knew until Boo came that
we could be so resilient, happy, loving and strong.
Josette answered Lynda's inquiries right away and before I knew it... my fortunes had turned.
God was smiling on me and my purpose was now clear.  I went to Northern Michigan to help heal Lynda's heart.
She says she loved me from the moment she saw the first pic and even more after she heard about my suffering.
I liked her right away.  She cooked the best food I've ever even smelled....
boiled chicken & egg noodles just CANNOT be ignored, even if you wanted to.
I got things I've never even heard of (omega fatty acids, bioactivators, vitamins)
I gained 6.1/2 lbs in the first week!  Now I have ENERGY... I can RUN, JUMP, DANCE...
This is just too exciting.... I get petted and hugged all the time... I have TOYS
I have CLOTHES... I have a YARD, no more cages,
I think this is what the doggy Lotto Jackpot  is !!!!!
