Meagan - first day home

First day home in the kennel, I am too weak to run & play yet. My ribs stick out like fingers and you can count every knob on my backbone.  My hips stick out above the great hollows in my sides.  I am a little nervous about the change, but Lynda is always nearby...waiting, with food... DELICIOUS food.  I never knew food could taste so good!
I went to church with Lynda & Father Bill said a blessing over me.  The change was miraculous...
I gained almost 7 pounds in the first week!

I spent the first couple days resting and conserving calories in my spacious, open-air crate.  I have a warm, soft bed with numerous toys (even though I don't know what they're for yet).

I'm trying very hard to learn everything quickly...everything is so different from the shelter cages.  There is a doggie door to come in and out whenever I want....I follow the other 2 older dogs to go out to pee.

After only 3 days, my energy level is increasing rapidly... I can run, jump & play.
I am HAPPY, for the first time in my puppy-life.  I want to STAY here forever.

I'm very meek and polite to Teddy-beagle (she runs the doggie-pack and I have to be accepted by her if I want things to go smoothly.
She usually doesn't tolerate new dogs on her turf, but Teddy-beagle thinks I'm so much like Boo that I must be OK.  (Whew, that's a relief, because her nickname is "Chainsaw" and she can be pretty scarry when she's pulling loops out of the chain-link fence!)

Meagan with rawhide

I love to chew and Lynda gave me rawhides and "Greenies" to help clean my teeth (I had a lot of brown tartar discoloration mostly from poor nutrition)
I let Lynda scrape my teeth & scale them for me.  Now I have a dazzling smile again and nice breath!
I like the hard, crunchy rawhide chips that crumble... but the Greenies are still my favorite (VERY yummy!)

Lynda made my first coat of pink & white fleece with the Hope ribbon symol... very appropriate for me.  I love having a warm fleece coat; the nights can be pretty cold up north!.. especially when you're a very skinny coonhound.

I know Boo loved squeeky toys, but the noise makes me a little nervous.  I  like my little pink cow because Lynda put a rattle in it instead.  My favorite toys are balls, rope pull toys, empty paper towel rolls or egg cartons, and Charlie's slippers (but I'm learning that slippers are a no-no).
Lynda says I'm like a little crow because I like to sneak off with pilfered treasures and stash them for later.

I'm thinking that I've got it made as far as the cushy life goes now.  After a full belly of chicken & noodles, I'm ready for a nap.  Awake or sleeping, all my dreams are now a reality !

Lynda &  I are just getting to know each other!
(but I already know I'm her favorite baby!)
